Slow and steady, myofascial release utilizes friction to help promote fluid glide through fascia that has become stuck to itself or muscles around it.
Fascia: an internal layer of connective tissue which plays an integral role in form and function, wrapping muscles and organs for support and placement.

Trigger point therapy uses strong, static pressure over trigger points to release them.
Trigger point: a discrete spot in a taut or irritated muscle that causes a predictable referred pain pattern in other areas of the body.

Deep tissue uses slow and heavy pressure to release stubborn or deeper muscles. Deep tissue may be incorporated into your treatment, but will not make up the whole routine. Here are some common myths around deep tissue:
No pain, no gain, right? Wrong. Too much pressure can actually stress your muscles, promote bruising, and cause inflammation.
If it doesn’t hurt, I know it can’t be working. Not quite! Many factors can contribute to muscles so tense that lighter pressure doesn’t register, but often this can indicate that multiple applications of lighter pressure are needed to soften the tissue.

For client safety, yes, there are certain cases in which it would be medically unsafe for an unspecialized therapist to work with you. At any point during scheduling or treatment, if there is anything relevant that Em may not be able to treat and keep you safe, they may delay or terminate treatment at their discretion.
